When Dove was three her mother, weakened by disease, was unable to obtain what little the family needed, and was forced to choose between feeding her children, or nurturing her weak and disease-ridden self. The woman died by then end of the year, and Dove and her brother Dane found themselves alone in the world.
Because of Doves age, Dane found himself in charge of keeping the two alive. He figured out how to beg and steal food quickly, and discovered that his little sister proved useful when obtaining what he desired. Dane soon found it habit to use his sister as much as possible; however, when Dane began making friends, the two found themselves part of a gang dedicated to the same goal, survival. The gang worked together to obtain the necessities, and shared their bounty with the group.
Due to this teamwork, Dane found himself less reliant on Dove and more reliant on his team. He planed to, when the gang got older, redirect the gang’s attention from food to money, allowing them to advance in status from beggars to working men, and accelerate from there accordingly. He began making the changes little by little, earning rupees instead of bread, and storing the earnings of himself and other members in order to prepare for their futures.
With Dane occupied, Dove found herself free to explore. She learned how to use childish charm for the groups benefit, and made many a friend throughout the streets of Castle Town. One day, one of the older boys brought with him a young urchin named Imp. The boy had witnessed Imp steal a whole bushel of apples from a merchant, and successfully escape, and now the boy wanted to accept Imp into the gang.
During the past few years, the older boys such as Imp’s supporter had natural become leaders, being trusted, and obeyed by most. With one of the gang’s leaders recommending the boy, there was little opposition to Imps acceptance. With Imp officially a member, he was sent out on his daily rounds like the other boys. Seeing that Dove always went alone, and that every other member went with a partner, Imp was sent with Dove.
Dove and Imp got along exceptionally well, and within days they where fast friends. The two made a great pair; Imp was almost a cute as Dove, and with her instruction, hauled in massive amounts of bounty. What Dove and Imp couldn’t get, imp would simply steal, making them the groups most productive members. With Imp, Dove, and several other members hauling in more than enough supplies to provide for the gang, the older members began working on Dane’s idea, separating the group into food collectors and money collectors. The plan worked perfectly, and for two years, the gang thrived.
The tranquility gained by the gang made life almost perfect for its members, however, a disaster struck the group that would change the lives of every member permanently. One day, the group’s members returned to the gathering spot only to find their rupee stash stolen. Though the younger members couldn’t care less the older members where furious. They immediately went on the prowl, searching for the person who had robbed from them.
Dove, Imp, and the other children waited patiently, and, about an hour later, their leaders returned. Some where injured, and others had bloodstains on them that lacked a known source, however, they had the money. Fearing that the stash would be found an robbed again, the gang decided to divide up each days profits between the leaders, thus preventing more robberies and cementing the groups loyalty.
Unfortunately, the rupees didn’t cement the group’s unity, but destroy it. With the amount of rupees increasing, the leaders became less and less willing to part with their money and more and more hungry for their comrade’s rupees. Eventually, members began fighting, and soon began leaving the group, each taking a large portion of members with him. While the group crumbled, Dove and Imp grew closer. Both the kids knew that the groups collapse ruined all plans for successful futures, however, Imp had already devised his own plan for saving himself and his comrades.
One day, Imp told Dove about his plans for the future. Imp planed on training hard and becoming a great hero, saving people, earning the love of society, and obtaining enough riches to support himself and all his friends. Imp also had special plans for Dove. Sealing his oath with a kiss on the cheek, Imp promised that, when he became a hero, he would rescue Dove from the streets and make her his bride.
Dove loved the idea, however, Dane didn’t. Dane, with all support gone began searching desperately for his future. During his quest, Dane found himself in the underbelly of Castle Town, where he discovered many things about life and the world. Filled with new understanding, Dane devised a new plan for a successful future.
In the past, Dove had been a true meal ticket, and a tool that he could constantly rely on. Thanks to his new education, Dane now knew that there where men out there who would pay more than enough for success just to enjoy a pretty girl’s body, and, when she grew older, Dove would most likely become one of those sought after girls. All Dane had to do was turn his sister into the perfect sex slave, and sell her for a fortune. That would give him more than enough money to move up in societies ranks; however, he couldn’t have Imp interfering, so his first order of business was to rid himself of Imp.
One night, Dove and Imp returned to the gathering point to find Dane and the others waiting, armed and angry. Dove found herself grabbed and dragged of ad Imp bas beaten mercilessly by her friends and brother. Then next morning, her brother came to her and announced that Imp was dead and telling her his plans for her future. From that, point on Dove’s life was hell. Though Dane was unwilling to decrease Dove’s worth by taking her virginity, he was more than willing to “train” her in the arts of sexual entertainment through experience. Every day, Dane and his men would molest and grope, Dove, telling her that she would have to get used to such treatment in order to succeed as a slave, and the more Dove resisted, and the more she cried and begged, the more they hurt her.
Dove still lives in the alleys on Castle Town, praying daily for the gods to deliver her from her much feared fate. She lives in fear and sadness, hoping and praying that this nightmare will end, and that Imp is not only alive, but also preparing to return and keep his promise.
