Exiting Snow-hedge Mountains Snow and ice crunched under Belak's immense weight. He stood silently for awhile, feeling the warm breeze coming from his right. Straight ahead he saw the walls of Clock town. He re-shouldered his Axe strap and continued down the slope.

Silence was blanketing the area. Balek might have gotten the feeling that he was being watched.

The breeze halted. Belak heard nothing. No birds, no scurrying or clatter of any creature at all. The silence seem to cut the chasm into bits. He was starting to regret leaving the mountains. Someone was out there. “Hello,” he called out as if someone might reply.

Suddenly, the complete stillness around Belak was broken by a faint rustling sound that seemed to come from a nearby pile of snow.

Belak sighed in relief, letting out a breath he unknowingly held. “Just a shrew,” He said as loud and clear as bells. He continued to Clock Town but kept an eye on the pile of snow. It rustled again. Belak jumped back in an almost comical fashion. “Just a shrew,” he repeated, trying to convince himself, but he never took his eyes off the pile.

The rustling continued as Belak stared cautiously at the pile of snow. However, Belak could now see that the sound was accompanied by movement. The pile of snow seemed to be quivering, and it began to fall away to reveal a small grouping of bushes. One bush in particular seemed to be responsible for the rustling and the quivering.

Belak clumsily, yet ever so slowly reached towards the bush to see what it really was. “Just a shrew,” he continued on again under his breath, over and over again.

As Belak's hand lightly brushed one of the leaves of the bush, the whole bush shot out of the ground and into the air, propelled by the Deku Scrub that it was attached to. At such close range, the Deku's blast-off was like an explosion, which caused Belak to withdraw his hand in surprise. The Deku Scrub continued in a low yet graceful ark, and landed square on Belak's head.
"What!? Who? Who goes there?! Show yourself!! Nobody sneaks up on Sir Foo! I'm ready for anything!!" beeped the startled, annoyed, and still half-asleep Deku Scrub as he searched in vain around his elevated position for his invisible intruder. As Foo pointed his mouth this way and that, he completely failed to notice that the large rock he was standing on was actually Belak.

Belak’s thought course got cut off. A Deku Scrub! One of his brothers is a Deku. Maybe this one was friendly. Even if he isn’t a friendly Deku, Belak could easily out roll him. Belak lifted Foo off his head and held him in front of him. “I am the one who goes here.”

One minute, Foo was searching for the small little foe that had the nerve to wake him up from his rather cold sleep. But before Foo knew what was happening, a huge rocky hand had plucked him off his perch and held him gently in front of a great rocky face that spoke to him!
"Waa!"
The excitable Deku Scrub fell out of Belak's hand in surprise and landed on his bottom. Once there, he looked up at the Goron in wonder. Foo felt intimated by Belak's sheer size, but he did his best to put on a brave face and not show it. He wasn't completely successful at this.
"Wha.. what are you and what do you want, rock-man?"

Belak kneeled down to be closer to the Deku. He lifted Sir Foo to his feet. Even then Belak towered over him. Belak stared into the Deku’s frightened eyes, and drew his own eyes back once seeing his expression. Without directly gazing at the scrub Belak answered, “I’m a Goron. My name’s Belak. I want to go to the ocean. How about are you?”

Foo took the time while Belak glanced away to brush himself off with his leaves and to regain his composure. In order to aid himself in regaining his nerve, he feigned confidence and disinterest in the ocean, as he dramatized his own quest.
"Ha! Ocean eh? While you were off to wherever that is, I was just about to climb that there mountain and claim it for the Deku Kingdom, when it suddenly threw a great mass of this nasty, cold, white stuff at me and covered me completely! Today was the day where I, Sir Foo, was to make my second charge!"
In reality, Foo had simply gotten tired after walking all day and was forced to settle down for a cold night among the bushes before they were covered by a nighttime snowstorm. The mountain that Foo was indicating with his mouth, which was the largest in the Snowhead chain, may have been manageable for a hearty Goron like Belak, but it looked like no place for a 2'05'' deku scrub.
However, Foo was interested in hearing about the ocean despite his act, and it wasn't long before this started to show.
"Say Belak, what does one find at an ocean anyway?"

The Goron began to suspect he wasn’t going to fancy Sir Foo, but abruptly changed his mind once he heard Sir Foo ask about the ocean. He looked the scrub in the face, but still avoided his eyes. “Ah, my Brother says there’s many wonderful things there,” Belak began. “Birds, fish, which are aloof beast, and leevers, they’re mean and persistent monsters, plenty of food, and above all else water. I love water, even though I can’t move in it. that’s why I got a Zora tunic, only it don’t fit me, but if I get four though, maybe a tailor will re-fit it for me.” Belak wanted to go on and on about this place he’s never been, but he was probably boring Sir Foo. “Mr. Foo, why do you want to claim that mountain? The tops too cold, even for Gorons. My brother, he’s a Deku Scrub like you, says he eats soil. The dirt’s fifty-some feet under ice. Goron feet are way bigger than Deku’s, so that’s like a thousand for you! Surly you kingdom wants a survivable place. Is that right Sir? Huh?” Belak started to talk fast as he became anxious about the thought that the Deku king sent one of their own to die, or Sir Foo was ignorant of the dangers on the mountain. Of course this was just in his head.

The Goron was starting to talk too fast for Foo to follow.
"Hey! Slow down, rock-man! What did you say about your brother being a Deku? I've never had a brother that looked like you!"
"Anyway, my orders are quite clear." Said Foo standing proudly although he didn't look like much. "I am to conquer the whole word for the Deku Kingdom, and that mountain is simply one more place to go."
As he reached the part about the mountain, Foo began to feel less sure of himself. Now that he thought about it, that mountain was awfully high, and he was already fed up with the cold after only one night in the general area.
Maybe I should head to this ocean first. It's starting to sound pretty nice...

The rock-man, as Sir Foo dubbed Belak, could tell Sir Foo was nervous, but he would be too. one’s superior sending one on a mission to claim a place so unknown, especially to Deku Scrub, is a horrific thought. On that mountain probably only dwelled freezards and a few wolfos, who’d likely kill him before he sent word back to his kingdom of his conquer.
“Well,” Belak began, while rubbing his neck searching for the next words. “Orders are orders, which why I’ve got to go to Clock town first. My Dad said I’ve got to. You King said you’ve got to master that mountian ... To bad we can’t just share the world, like the robin and jay share a tree. that'll mountian would already be you'res... Maybe Deku’s would have more Goron brothers.” Belak talked slow, because he was thinking over Sir Foo’s faith.
“ Mr. Foo, I wish you luck. I’m sorry, but I’s got to leave. I spent to much time here. I should have been on the other side of the chasm by now. It was a pleasure meeting you. I hope I encounter another brave being like you again.”
Belak tilted his head in thanks, and sluggishly got off his knees. Rock-man began to hastily leave.

Belak's unexpected wise and deep ideals about sharing the world left the young Foo speechless. Foo was a creature that had always seen the world the way that he wanted to and was used to making quick, sometimes rash decisions without a second thought. The concept itself was also new to him so he pondered the wisdom of this alien idea, which went against everything he had ever known.
So... Who is right?
Suddenly, Foo's train of thought was broken as he realized with surprise that Belak had left while he was busy thinking, and was already getting farther away. Foo stopped thinking about Belak's noble ideals in order to give chase and catch up, but did not forget them.
"Hey! Wait! I'm coming too!" Foo beeped at Belak.
As Foo attempted to catch up with Belak, he could not help sparing one last thought toward the cold mountain.
I'll be back for you later!

Belak whipped around.
“WHAT!!!? Your coming?” Belaks voice boomed. He waited for Sir Foo to catch up “ What about your orders? The kingdom? Won’t you get introuble!?”

Foo felt that he was nearly knocked over by Belak's booming voice, but Foo came up to him anyway.
"Why, of course I'm going! I can't let a guy like you run around all by yourself!"
Foo looked from side to side with mock suspicion as if he was making sure that nothing would jump out at Belak, even though Belak probably could have defended himself against a hidden foe much better then Foo could defend him. It was unsure if he actually thought that he could save Belak from anything.
"Besides..."
Although Foo's face could not move, he somehow gave the impression that he was smiling when he turned to face Belak again.
He happily declared: "...my orders didn't say where I was supposed to conquer first! I can go anywhere I want to!"

Belak felt over whelmed with rapture, when it was confirmed Sir Foo was coming. He looked down at the beaming Deku scrub. Belak really did feel safer having Foo along. He knew of nothing outside the mountains except from what he has read and his brothers told him. Sir Foo has clearly been in the world and done many things that Belak hasn’t. Even though Sir Foo hasn't gone to the ocean, as Belak assumed, he wouldn’t be alone when he finally got there. Down Belak crouched, and open his arms in a hugging gesture, even though he wasn’t expecting one in return. One reason was Foo lacked arms, and the other was no one, other than Gorons, likes Goron hugs. “ Thank you. You are now my brother.”

Uh... sure.
Foo never quite got an explanation of the whole Goron "brother" thing, but he wasn't going to let it bug him right now. He also didn't expect such an affectionate gesture from Belak, but he was happy at the thought at having a companion.
Still "beaming," Foo beeped: "So be it, we're partners now!"
Unfamiliar with the strength of Gorons or with Goron hugs in general, Foo was not intimidated by the possibility of getting a Goron hug from Belak.

Lethargically Belak stood back up. “ Alright, we better get moving.”
He slowly turned, but he waited, so he could try to match Sir Foo’s pace when they started walking. Belak looked over his shoulder at Sir Foo, “Hey Foo, have you ever been to Clock Town?”

Foo was a bit surprised that the Goron made like he was going to give him a hug only to get up again, but he shrugged it off. He ran over to the Goron's side so that Belak would not have to look over his shoulder to talk to him.
"No, I haven't. What about you? What's over there?"

“No, I haven’t either. I have to go to a bank. I got no idea what that is, sept you put rupees into it,” Belak replied colorlessly. He scratched his sideburn. “Do you know what a bank is?”

Foo was completely unfamiliar with the money system in Clock Town.
"No, I never heard of a bank, before. Is it a box that you put rupees in? Is it some sort of monster that eats rupees?"
Apparently favoring the second, more exciting option, Foo began to think to himself about what it would be like to defeat this terrible monster...

“ Don’t be absurd Foo. If it’s a box than we’ll just call it a box,” Belak stated. “But a monster? It makes more sense except why would my dad want me to feed a monster my rupees? What do I do to get it back when I need to buy something?”
He patiently waited for Sir Foo to respond.

"Um..."
Foo stopped and scratched his head... or at least he would have if he had arms. His exciting theory was looking less plausible, and his dreams of gallantly defeating the terrible money-eating monster were fading away.
Maybe the rupees would not be digested by the beast? Then we could...
Foo pushed the rather gross idea out of his mind before it could get any further. Still, he wasn't ready to give up on being the hero to vanquish the evil monster Bank yet.
"Maybe this foul beast is threatening to eat people if he doesn't get his diet of rupees?"

Belak tried to imagined Foo’s interpretation of a Bank.
“Of course Foo. That all makes sense.” Belak retorted almost instantly.
He let the Foo’s words sink in deeper. ...Maybe this foul beast is threatening to eat people if he doesn't get his diet of rupees...
“Foo if your right, we need to help these people.” Belak took a deep breath and looked Sir Foo in the eyes .“In all the books I read, I don’t recall a Bank. It must be serious...Or you could possibly be wrong and it’s a...gah, I don’t know ” Belak slumped his shoulders if frustration. He hate trying to think of cleaver things fast.

With the possibility that Belak might be talking sarcastically not occurring to the young Deku, Foo beeped with gusto: "Well, we will never find out what a bank really is just by standing here!!!"
Pointing his Deku snout high in the air as if it was a mighty sword or perhaps a trumpet, he proclaimed loudly to all who would listen, which amounted to about one person: Belak.
"Let it be known by all that I will not stand for the cruelty of the evil bank any longer! Fear not, Clock Town, we shall soon be there to save you from your oppressive bank! Onward to victory, down with the bank!"
With that, Foo broke into a dead run to catch up to his wild imagination, which was running at least as fast as he was, before Belak had time to get a word in edgewise. After running for a couple of seconds, Belak suddenly saw Foo come to an abrupt halt, before turning and running all the way back. Upon returning, Foo tilted his bush-covered head quizzically.
"Say Mr. Belak, which way to Clock Town?"

The frustration evaporated From Belak’s mind when Sir Foo made a mad dash and then turned around and came back. Utter confusion took frustration’s place. “Er...That way,” Belak pointed to a slope that jetted out of the rock wall. “Once we get out of the chasm we should see a big wall. That’s Clock Town.”

Somewhat tired and less enthusiastic after his embarrassing navigational error, Foo clumsily tried to save face by pretending to know it was in that direction all along.
"Oh, uh... Yes, of course it's that way!"
An awkward silence followed.
"Well... I guess we'll go then."
Foo turned on his heel and walked in the correct direction towards Clock Town.
