After washing the wound out with warm water the girl rubbed poultice from one of the jars on his wound careful not to be too vigorous and irritate the wound, in fact, judging by her deft touch she had done something of the sort once or twice before...

"So, miss... you make a habit of wandering into the nastiest parts of town by yourself?"

Blushing slightly she continued to apply the poultice. "No...but that man had stolen something very important and when I heard it had been stolen, well I guess I wasn't thinking straight, but I ran down there to get it back. Not such a great idea I know but it's all my mother has left to remind her of my father."

"Huh. Sentimental value, huh?"
He flinched a bit
"Well, word to the wise- don;t go into a place without knowing who you're going to be up against.
He pointed to a particularly nasty scar on his left bicep.
"I got hat one by making the same mistake."
And the one I'm dealing with right now, but let's not get into that.
"Fortunately, my friend here was on hand, and you can learn from the experience."

Sevant watched without comment as the girl's soft hands applied the poultice. Then, holding the wound closed she added a thicker poultice that acted as a glue holding the wound toghether.
Gathering a full swatch of bandaging she returned to him beginning to wind the roll around his torso careful to pack herbs from a different jar in with each layer. "You're right." She said conversationally. "I'll be more careful in the future. I'm just glad to have the necklace back."

"Eh. For what it's worth, I like to think we made an impression on them."
He shot a significant glance at Sevant.
"And you can stop manfully not complaining aout that arrow wound. Thing might get infected if you leave it too long."

Sevant shrugged slightly and his eyebrow ticked at the pain the gesture caused. "It might." He agreed. The girl blinked in confusion then noticed the small puddle of blood forming around his left boot.
"Oh dear!" She exclaimed almost dropping the bandage she was working on. Sevant gestured and she paused remembering what she was doing then blushed. "Sorry..."

"No need to apologize."
Sorin eyeballed the pool of blood.
"After all, we get these injuries with no real expectation of help."

The girl nodded and tied the bandage up in a knot that looked as though it would hold up under rigorous motion. "Now you." She said flipping the chair around. "Take your tunic off and lean on the back of this chair so I can get a good look at the wound." Sevant complied slipping his sheathed sword from the holster on his back he pulled his tight tunic up revealing pale heavily scarred skin and the fresh arrow wound still oozing blood.
Examining it with gentle fingers the girl sighed. "This one will require stitches I think...What do you say...ah...I can't believe we don't know each other's names!" She exclaimed. "My name is Helen and it's a pleasure to meet you..." She paused obviously looking for a name.

"Sorin." She said shooting him a smile that seemed as bright as the sun. "And you are?" She asked prodding Sevant's back with a finger.
"Bleeding."

Sorin laughed, then cursed as the laughter aggravated his wound, then laughed again.
Then cursed some more.

Helen heaved a sigh and shook her head. "That's a strange name." She said pouring warm water down his back washing away the blood and cleaning the wound simultaniously. Sevant grunted in reply then shifted slightly as she poked the wound. "I...I think the arrowhead is still in there..." She muttered shifting her eyes too Sorin.

"Really?"
He rose and ambled over to Helen and Sevant.
"Well, I s'pose I can hold him down while you yank it out, if it comes to it..."

Sevant sighed and stiffened his resolve. "Yank it out." He ordered. Helen shuddered at the thought.
"The hole's too small I could never get my fingers in there..." She said doubtfully.
"Enlarge it then."
"I..."

"If it's a problem Helen, I can do it."
Sorin shrugged.
"I know that cutting on folks worries those who aren;t used to it."

She nodded greatfully and stepped aside leaving Sevant's back at the mercy of Sorin. "Be careful." She added uneccissarily.

"Careful? Me?"
He grinned n a fashion that would send most sane observers scampering for cover.
"Of course!"
He picked a small knife up and eyed its edge for a second. Then he heated the blade in a candle-flame for a few more seconds, and went to work.
He was a surprsinginly able surgeon, although the searing knife with no real anesthesia must have been quite painful.

Sevant grunted in pain as the knife burned through his flesh widening the wound and cauterizing it in the same movement. Helen shied away from the entire proceedure covering her mouth and quivering at the hissing sound of burning flesh.

After about fve minutes of this, Sorin stopped.
"I think've made it wide enough for your fongers, Helen."
He wiped some sweat off of his brow.
"I'd have gone faster, but I didn;t want to cut anything he'll be needing later."

Gulping the girl stepped forward examining the wound. It was near perfect and once she'd built up the courage she realised that it was just wide enough to push her fingers in. Sevant twitched and muttered a low curse as her digits curled around the arrowhead. With a curious patience Helen wiggled the arrowhead slowly pulling it from Sevant's back.
Finally she jerked it loose accompanied by a splurt of blood. "Put something on that!" She ordered stumbling backwards.

Sorin, with an almost irritated sigh, snatched a scrap of banage up and pressed it directly to the wound.
"We're going to need to clean it out. I seriously doubt that the local bar scum keep their weapons clean."

Helen nodded slightly dropping the arrowhead on the floor and sifting through the various poultices and remedies available too her. "Water, water, water..." She muttered to herself lifting the kettle that had warmed the initial doses of water from the fire once more careful to wrap the handle with a cloth. Pouring a piping hot dram into a simple clay cup she swirled it and whispered arcane words as though she were telling the water a secret. With surprising speed the water cooled and she slowly poured it over the enlarged wound cleansing it as best she could with the crude tools available.
Picking up needle and thread the girl got to work sewing the muscles back toghether and eventually the skin as well. Her momentary squeemishness aside it was surprising how adept she had proven to be with wounds in general.

"I work part time at the local cafe." She said smiling at Soren while tying off a knot. "But my papa..." Tears started to fill her eyes but she dashed them away quickly. "He was a fighter in the local rings. Not the best, but good enough to be a steady contender. I patched him up when my ma refused to do it anymore. Said he was getting old but papa wouldn't hear it." She shook her head and shrugged. "What could I do? So I picked it up as I went along, learning the more intricate stuff from the local healer in exchange for chores."

"YOu made yourself useful. Commendable."
Sorin cocked his head, looking at her sutures, then addressed Sevant.
"You'll be happy to know that you won't rot alive now, Shekah."

"I'll try and contain my joy." Sevant replied rolling his shoulder to check the sutures.
Helen blushed at Sorin's backhanded compliment. "I...I guess I did." She admitted slowly.

Her blush deepened and Sevant's eyebrow rose just slightly as he slid his bloody armored tunic back on and stuffed the freshly folded and still purely white mantle deep in his pouch, it was a fairly common device, the pouch, anything that could be stuffed through the opening could be held. Quite handy for folks on the go...
"I...I could put some tea on if you two would like to sit a while..." Helen suggested already clattering away as she refilled the kettle and replaced it on it's hook above the fire. "There's also some stew left here, it would really be no trouble to reheat it."

"Well, I certainly don;t feel up to any long-distance running."
Sorin settled into a seat, favoring his newly-bound wound slightly.
